• Smoke and carbon monoxide detector requirements
• Fire safety requirements for apartment buildings
• If you have questions about the fire safety code, contact the State Fire Marshal’s Office and ask for Richard James or Michael DiMascola 401-294-0861
• To find out how to apply for a variance from the requirements, contact the Fire Safety Code Board of Appeal and Review, and ask for Tom Coffey 401-222-3189 or go to http://www.fsc.state.ri.us/
• To share your concerns about the new regulations with legislators who serve on the House Oversight Commission to Monitor the Ramifications of the Fire Safety Code, please contact Representative Joe Trillo, who chairs the commission, at 401-826-9100.
