Surviving Tough Times Part 8 - What the New VOW Rules Really Mean for You and Your Sellers
On July 23rd, RIAR hosted Surviving Tough Times Part 8, What the New VOW Rules Really Mean for You and Your Sellers. Panelists comprised of representatives from the brokerage community, MLS Leadership and staff reviewed the recent NAR settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and more importantly, detailed how the new, mandated polices will affect Members and consumers. Although the policy’s fundamental purpose was to regulate the operation of Virtual Office Websites, the new rules have far-reaching implications for all Members, including what their seller’s rights are related to how their listing data is displayed on the Internet.

Surviving Tough Times Part 9 - Real Estate Ethics & Professional Standards: Real Life Applications
On Thursday, August 27th, RIAR hosted the 9th edition of its Surviving Tough Times panel series, with the topic being Ethics and Professional Standards. As Realtors, you subscribe to a National Code of Ethics in conducting your daily business. The Professional Standards mandated by the National Association of Realtors help provide all of us of a fair and secure business environment. There are times however, that you may be faced with questionable situations - how do you handle them?
If a colleague acts in a way during a business transaction that you feel is inappropriate, what do you do? Do you know the avenues for addressing grievances? The panel of experts at this seminar provided invaluable insight to these questions and discussed real life scenarios that will certainly help you and your business.
